Explanation Texts explain the processes involved in natural and social phenomena, or to expalin how something works. These text answer the questions "how" or "why".
There are two basic types of expanations : i.e. focus on how, for example : How does a computer work?, How are mountains formed?, How does a spider spin a web? ; and why, for example : Why is the ozone layer getting thinner? , Why does iron rust?, Why do living things need food?
The elements of the explanation texts are general statements which explain the processes involved in natural and social phenomena, or to explain how something works; explanations which explain how or why something occurs; and conclusion (optional). These text often have a logical sequence, use cause/effect relations, such as then, as a consequence, so, if, and also use time relations, such as first, then, following, finally.
